buzz about the west end
The West End exhibits a sort of old-fashioned, library vibe. It almost feels like a 1920s-esque spot, with gorgeous artwork, a lounge with couch-style booths, and a lovely full bar accentuated with modern lighting. The woodwork throughout the restaurant is also beautifully crafted and adds to the overall ambiance.
Ultimately, The West End is amazing for anyone looking for a unique, modernized speakeasy vibe filled with music and delicious cuisine.
Owners Blane Toedt and Jen Villa are thrilled to introduce Chef Christopher Shortall as the new Culinary Director of The West End team. Chef Chris brings along nearly four decades of culinary experience, ranging from roles such as Executive Chef for Roslindale’s famed Gourmet Caterers, Chef de Cuisine at Boston Public Library’s The Catered Affair, and most recently Executive Chef at Willowbend in Mashpee.
The West End is a special mélange of vintage look with a hip new feel and well-curated menus. Standing at the helm is a couple who have found their way to each other and developed the recipe for a truly memorable dining experience. After prevailing through the most challenging year imaginable, they seemed to have hit a Max Roach-like groove. And like some of his legendary drum solos, this is one that will not only sustain but gain momentum for some time to come.
The West End is located in what, for decades, was The Paddock, a popular pre- and post-show dining spot right next to the Cape Cod Melody Tent.
“We want people to have a little escape,” says Toedt, former food and beverage manager at Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee. “The building is more than 100 years old. We want people to come here and feel transported.”
We are truly taking it day by day. It has been extremely difficult to predict customer behavior and manage spending with so many unknowns. We have been trying to think creatively and strategically to keep our business relevant, all while prioritizing the safety of our staff and community.
Let’s face it: the pandemic summer wasn’t much of a vacation, and as a result, many of us weren’t ready for fall. If even Dunkin’s Pumpkin Spice coffee isn’t giving you the warm-and-cozy vibes you were hoping for this season, then a creative fall cocktail might do the trick.

The West End is excited to announce a new leadership and culinary team for the upscale New American restaurant, located steps from Cape Cod’s famed Melody Tent music venue in Hyannis’ historic West End.
The West End is among the latest of new Cape restaurants to compete in the high end market. It occupies a prime spot for attracting both locals, vacationers and early diners catching a show at the Melody Tent next door. The new restaurant opened in June and is owned by Jen Villa, owner of The Local Juice and David Noble from Embargo in Hyannis.
The West End is beautifully decorated, relaxing and interactive
Cooking local with everything from honey to greens is part of The West End’s secret to quality meals, but the rest comes from having experienced chefs who know how to pair flavors.
